FLYIT Simulators has FAA approval as FSD

November 5, 2001 – FLYIT Simulators has received FAA approval for its Professional Airplane Simulator (PAS) as a Flight Training Device (FTD). The device is approved for use as a generic single - engine high performance aircraft as well as a high performance twin engine aircraft. Under the approval the PAS may be used in accordance with Federal Aviation Regulations for:
  • Instrument Experience (Currency)
  • Instrument Proficiency Checks
  • Instrument Training
  • Instrument Practical Testing

The FLYIT Professional Aircraft Simulator was developed with the medium to smaller operator in mind. "We designed the device to take advantage of new technology and is affordable for the majority of flight schools." The approval took place at Kent State University, which was the first installation of the device. Kent State University, under its School of Technology's Aeronautics Department holds the distinction of being one of the oldest flight schools in the United States, tracing its roots back to 1913! Dr. Raj Chowdhry, the Dean of the School of Technology, stated that the FLYIT Simulators new technology approach and FAA approval were paramount to the Kent State mission of providing the best training possible through the use of innovative new technology. Dr. Isaac Nettey, Program Director for Aeronautics and Kent State's flight training programs was pleased with the support of not only FLYIT Simulators but the FAA as well.
