FLYIT Simulators gains FAA approval as FSD.

July 12, 2001 - FLYIT Simulators is pleased to announce that it has received FAA approval for its Professional Helicopter Simulator (PHS) as a Flight Simulation Device (FSD).

Under the approval the PHS may be used in accordance with Federal Aviation Regulations for:

Instrument Experience (Currency)
Instrument Proficiency Checks
Instrument Training
Instrument Practical Testing

August 26,2002 - FLYIT receives FAA approval as the first FSD to gain VFR flight operation ability. This is the first time that an affordable flight training system, formally called New Technology Digital Simulation (NTDS) Flight Simulation Device, has been approved by the FAA to replace part of the expensive VFR flight time it takes to train a helicopter pilot. This FAA approval permits a pilot to log up to :

7.5 hours of VFR training time

toward the 35 to 40 hours required to obtain a private helicopter rating.

The FLYIT Professional Helicopter Simulator was developed with the medium to smaller helicopter operator in mind. "We designed the device to be affordable to the majority of helicopter operators. One of the primary design considerations of the device was to allow VFR pilots to learn and maintain the ability to control the helicopter in IMC conditions," stated Terry Simpkins, President of FLYIT. Utilization of the FLYIT Simulators Professional Helicopter Simulator has the potential to reduce accidents due to inadvertent flight into IMC.
